Get set for fun parade!
THERE WILL be great craic in Greystones on St. Patrick’s Day as there is a whole host of activities on offer for people.
At last week’s meeting of Greystones Town Council Cllr. Kathleen Kelleher of the Community Affairs Committee said all the groups in the town had received an invitation to take part in the parade and she urged them to respond quickly to the invitations.
However she said that while the preparations for the parade were going great ‘we desperately need stewards to ensure the safety of all participants.’
She said all the participating groups would have to follow certain rules to make sure everyone participating and attending the parade were kept safe.
Cllr. Kelleher also encouraged any local bands to contact the town council with a few to playing at certain designated spots along the route. Last year there were three local bands taking part. She also said the Rochdale Marching Band were taking part in the parade.
Cllr. Kelleher said on the night before the parade Siamsa Feile Padraig would take place in the Rugby Club while the local scout group were organising the Big Breakfast on the morning of the parade.
‘It will be a great day’, she said. Cllr. George Jones said the La Touche Legacy had donated €1,000 to the St. Patrick’s Day committee which Cllr. Kelleher said was ‘much appreciated’.
