Get set for fun pa­rade!

THERE WILL be great craic in Grey­stones on St. Pa­trick’s Day as there is a whole host of ac­tiv­i­ties on of­fer for peo­ple.

At last week’s meet­ing of Grey­stones Town Coun­cil Cllr. Kath­leen Kelle­her of the Com­mu­nity Af­fairs Com­mit­tee said all the groups in the town had re­ceived an in­vi­ta­tion to take part in the pa­rade and she urged them to re­spond quickly to the in­vi­ta­tions.

How­ever she said that while the prepa­ra­tions for the pa­rade were go­ing great ‘we des­per­ately need stew­ards to en­sure the safety of all par­tic­i­pants.’

She said all the par­tic­i­pat­ing groups would have to fol­low cer­tain rules to make sure ev­ery­one par­tic­i­pat­ing and at­tend­ing the pa­rade were kept safe.

Cllr. Kelle­her also en­cour­aged any lo­cal bands to con­tact the town coun­cil with a few to play­ing at cer­tain des­ig­nated spots along the route. Last year there were three lo­cal bands tak­ing part. She also said the Rochdale March­ing Band were tak­ing part in the pa­rade.

Cllr. Kelle­her said on the night be­fore the pa­rade Siamsa Feile Padraig would take place in the Rugby Club while the lo­cal scout group were or­gan­is­ing the Big Break­fast on the morn­ing of the pa­rade.

‘It will be a great day’, she said. Cllr. Ge­orge Jones said the La Touche Legacy had do­nated €1,000 to the St. Pa­trick’s Day com­mit­tee which Cllr. Kelle­her said was ‘much ap­pre­ci­ated’.
