THE election count certainly became an epic in the Wicklow, spilling into Monday as a recount was called. While the delay was mainly due to the fact that the Wicklow Constituency ran a record number of 24 Candidates and a recount called on count 13, perhaps the declaring officer was also checking on the missing votes of two unusual candidates who ran in the Kilmacanogue area ? Vote number One for “The Rooster” appeared on poles in the Rocky Valley (Kilmacanogue Gaa Club have confirmed it was not their own Stephen “Rooster” Rooney) while we had a giant Purple and White Cow appealing for your support at Jamesons Corner on the N11. While no results were available by the Kilmacanogue Diary’s deadline, we can confirm that the above two candidates were unsuccessful and will have to run better campaigns in 2016.
