MAGIC OF THE MUSICALS
Roundwood Variety Group are very busy rehearsing for their forthcoming production “Magic of the Musicals” which will take place from Thursday 3rd March to Saturday 5th March, nightly at 8 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday at 3pm in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. This promises to be a great nights entertainment with great big numbers from Mamma Mia, Les Miserables, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Annie & Bugsy Malone to name just a few. CAR BOOT SALE
The next Car Boot Sale at the Brockagh Centre will take place on Sunday 6th March from 11 am until 4 pm. Vans must be booked in. Car Boot Sales will take on the 1st Sunday of the month. Contact the Brockagh Centre on 0404-45600.
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
World Day of Prayer Service takes place in St. John's Church Laragh at 8 p.m. on Friday 4th March. This is an international movement of prayer prepared this year by women of Chile. Women and men are welcome. For further information from Ruth McCullagh at (0404) 43814.
Laragh/Glendalough are holding a Tidy Towns meeting in the Brockagh Centre Laragh on Tuesday 8th March. We were recently presented with 300 euro by Wicklow County Council for our efforts in 2010. We would appreciate some new volunteers.
Get Vocal is a choral programme for older persons living in County Wicklow. We are looking for participants for our 2011 Spring Programme. No auditions.
There are five regional sections which will have professional choral conductors and all five sections will come together as one county choir to perform a concert in Wicklow on Sunday 29th May. Rehearsals take place in the Brockagh Centre in Laragh on Wednesday mornings at 11 a.m. For further information please contact the programme co-ordinator Ann Catherine Nolan on 087 9723059.
This project is led by Wicklow County Arts Office in partnership with County Wicklow Network for Older People, County Wicklow VEC Community Education Facilitator and Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely.
Adult art classes will recommence on Wednesday morning from this week at 11 a.m. Classes suitable for complete beginners or improvers. A new session of children's arts and craft classes takes place on Saturday mornings from 10.30 a.m. until 12 noon. Open to ages of 4-8yrs. Booking Essential for both classes. The next 'My Rhythms' Body Movement Dance sessions at the Brockagh Centre will take place on Saturday 12th March from 8-10.30 pm. You will be sure to destress your tired body, have fun, energise yourself, meet new people and come away with your batteries recharged. Cover charge only €10. First half hour is for stretching and warm up. Tell all your friends. Loose clothing advisable - bring your own refreshments but no alcohol. On Monday 14th March there will be a very special event organised by the Brockagh Centre. The Phillips Academy Chamber Orchestra and Choir from Massachusetts, USA will be visiting Glendalough and will hold a special lunchtime performance from 12.30pm in St. Kevin's Church, Glendalough.
There is no cover charge but donations will be gratefully received for St Kevin's Church Fund. The Phillips Academy, established in 1778, is a celebrated residential secondary school with a reputation for academic excellence and a strong arts tradition.
For all students at Phillips Academy, music is a part of their studies and the Music Department directs several vocal, orchestral, chamber and wind ensembles. A selection of these ensembles will come together for this special performance. We are delighted to welcome the group and hope that those in the locality who are available will come along to show their support.
