Enniskerry has a resident T.D. in Shane Ross who won a seat in South County Dublin. Congratulations to Shane who got the second highest vote in the Country. Shane has now gone one better than his Father John who was also a Senator some years ago and together with his Wife are still living in Enniskerry. Shane and his wife Ruth ran a great campaign and deserve the great honour well done.
There s a huge turnout in the Enniskerry Area despite the lack of a Local Candidate, hopefully by now all the posters will have been removed by the contestants even those that were removed and left on the ground to create a dirty picture of Enniskerry, those who ave the courage to put themselves forward to represent heir fellow Citizens should be treated in a decent manner.
It was a god week for Enniskerry Dart Teams last week Both sets of throwers are very “Bullish “ about their chances of “good finishes “ for the remainder of the Season.
The Winter break is over and the Enniskerry Juniors are awaiting their first League game after putting in a hard Training time in conditions that were not too pleasant at times.
Enniskerry has had a great interest in horses from the times of reat Ploughmen like World Champion Charlie Keegan and others like Peenie Coogan and Andy Doran to a great man to breed hoes in Joe Bishop of Captain Christy fame all this and more will no doubt be discussed next on 10th March in Powerscourt Arms Country House Hotel with a Review of this years Cheltenham Festival Review e Starter will drop the white flag at 7.30 p.m. Matt Chapman and David Casey recent winners with Kick and King will be there to give TIPS as will a large number of the Enniskerry “horsey “ community take a tip and be on time.
Local historian and author Liam Clare will be the guest speaker for the Thursday March 10th meeting of the Enniskerry History Society takes place at 8.30pm on Thursday March 10th in the Powerscourt Arms Hotel, Enniskerry, at which he will present his lecture 'The Enclosing of the Commons at the Sugarloaf Mountain near Bray, 1830 to 1870 '. All welcome to attend.
Members of the Enniskerry History Society, which is linked with the Rathmichael Historical Sociuety, are invited to tonight's 8pm (Wednesday) meeting of that Society in Rathmichael School, Stonebridge Road, Shankill, Co. Dublin, at which Frank Tracy will present his lecture on ' The Masseys of Kilakee ' - all welcome to attend.
