DRAMA GROUP

The New­town Drama Group will present its an­nu­cal pro­duc­tion in the Parkview Ho­tel, New­town­moun­tkennedy on Thurs­day 3rd, Fri­day 4th and Satur­day 5th March at 8pm. This year au­di­ences will be treated to a pro­duc­tion of Bernard Far- rell's hi­lar­i­ous com­edy “Say Cheese”. Come along and meet 'Ire­land's Hap­pi­est Cou­ple' as they cel­e­brate their 30th wed­ding an­niver­sary, in a calamity of er­ror's com­edy, where what­ever can go wrong cer­tainly does.

NEW­TOWN TIDY TOWNS

The AGM was a great suc­cess with lots of ideas for the com­ing year. We hope to have the 1798 site fully com­pleted ready for St Pa­trick’s day weather per­mit­ing. We would like to take this op­por­tu­nity to thank all the fas work­ers for all there hard work with the tidy towns. 12th March Sat­u­ra­day 10.00 till 14.00 the first clean up day of the year get­ting our vil­lage ready for St. Pa­trick’s day pa­rade. Meet­ing at St Joseph’s church, Main St. Please bring glove. Pick­ers will be sup­plied on the day. New and old mem­bers all wel­come. Chil­dren’s poster clean up com­peti­ton. More De­tails later The An­nual Sun­flower competition will be launched on St Pa­trick's Day. Seeds will be sold at the St. Pa­trick’s day pa­rade. Join the fun. Tidy Towns will be putting a float in The Pa­trick’s Day Pa­rade.

IN­DOOR BOWL­ING

The mixed dou­bles held on Satur­day last in Wick­low were very well con­tested and fi­nally came down to an ex­cit­ing fi­nal over 15 ends be­tween Wick­low and New­town, and congratulations goes to Wick­low for a closely fought game where they emerged the vic­tors by 1 point which is an in­di­ca­tion of the stan­dard of bowl­ing on the day, Well done. The Mil­le­nium Cup will take place next Satur­day the 5th of March in New­town Bowl­ing Club and sign in time is 1.30pm, Start time 2pm, look­ing for­ward to see­ing a large turnout and some great bowlng. NEW­TOWN JU­VE­NILE GAA

The An­nual Ju­ve­nile pre­sen­ta­tion was held re­cently in the Com­mu­nity Cen­tre. A Great day was had by all who at­tended, young and old. Wick­low’s dy­namic duo of Leighton Glynn and Dean Od­lum were on hand to present the Un­der 8’s and 10’s with their go-games medals, also get­ting medals were the 12’s who were run­ners up in their Cham­pi­onship and the 14’s col­lected medals for win­ning the “B” Cham­pi­onship.

Be­fore any­body re­ceived a medal of any sort the boys and girls present tucked into some fine food and drink, non-al­co­holic of course, cour­tesy of Mar­ios and Centra.

The most ded­i­cated and the player of the year win­ners were U-12 most ded­i­cated -Sean Gre­gory. U-12 player of the year Sean Carthy. U-14 most ded­i­cated Ken­neth Turner: U-14 player of the year Keith Dal­ton. U-16 most ded­i­cated Ian Far­rell. U-16 player of the year Stephen Davis. Mi­nor most ded­i­cated Stephen Taite Mi­nor player of the year Christy Power. Ais­ling Mc Don­ald was pre­sented with an award as a mo­mento of her time play­ing with the club. She will be sorely missed by her team mates. Thanks Ais and Good Luck for the fu­ture.

Marty Hef­fer­nan pickup the Ju­ve­nile Club­man of the year and was pre­sented with the award by our new chair­man Papa Davis. If ever any man de­served an award it is Marty. Congratulations to Marty and all the other win­ners. Thanks to Dean and Leighton and all who helped dur­ing the year and on the day.
