St. Gerard’s top of the class
ACTION IN the Hoofprints interschool challenge continued at Boswell Equestrian last Saturday with home teams dominating proceedings in both the team and individual events.
The sun was shining for the 21 teams that travelled from all over the country to represent their schools in this highly competitive league.
However, Wicklow seemed to have the advantage as they took control of the team event from the start.
In the end, victory in the team challenge went to the home side as St. Gerard's School Bray team of Oisín Boyd, Thomas Foley, Sarah O'Loughlin and Dara Callan left their rivals in their wake to record the winning score.
Chasing the home team across the line was Newbridge College, while Scoil Mhuire Trim accounted for third place.
Wicklow found themselves back in the ribbons as the Colaiste Bhride Carnew team consisting of Maria Breen, Laura Kinsealla, Leah Holt and Alison MacDermott slotted into fourth place.
In the open individual class, victory went north to Kate Madden with her mount Bawn Delight when she clocked the winning time of 32.94. However representing the home side, Amy Sutton and Coloured Rose put in a solid performance to take sixth place.
