FASSAROE YC A and Newtown United B are the hot favourites for the top two places in Division 2 and they show no signs of stopping their winning ways anytime soon.

Jay Taylor and Tony Conway notched either side of halftime for Newtown, while Noel Breslin and Stephen Nolan were on target for the Magpies. And it looked like both sides were going to get a share of the spoils until Conor Eccleston popped up in the 92nd minute to steal victory right at the death for his side.

Fassaroe also enjoyed a win by a single goal margin this weekend. They travelled the short distance to the Ballywaltrim Recreational Park to take on Ballywaltrim FC. Keith Byrne fired the visitors ahead in the second minute before Darren Devlin levelled matters on 12 minutes.

Dan Kelly then scored what proved to be the winning goal a minute into first half injury-time.

Celtic Stars are also hopeful of competing in the Wicklow League's second tier next season and they made it five wins on the spin on Sunday with a 0-4 win over struggling Carnew AFC, who were forced to start the game with just nine men. Daniel Egan, Tony Byrne, Lukasz Niewiadomski and Pavel did the damage to Carnew with a goal apiece.
