Seaview advance to next round
SEAVIEW WANDERERS comprehensively booked their place in the second round of the Thomas Scott Cup at the expense of East Coast Albion after an impressive 1-4 win at Ballywaltrim on Sunday.
The first half of the match won’t last long in the memory, with both teams very wasteful in front of goal. But the visitors took a two-goal lead in at the break as they squeezed in two goals near the end of the first period; Philip Ormonde lead the way for his team and Iain O’ Byrne landed the second.
East Coast Albion pulled one back in the second half with Bobby Messitt scoring for the Bray side. However, their hopes of forcing extra-time were scuppered when Ormonde swooped to grab his second of the afternoon for the Arklow side.
The Eagles didn’t lose face though and continued to battle in the closing stages, but victory belonged to Seaview and the game was over when Mark O’Regan sealed the deal for his side, hammering the final nail into Albion’s coffin when he netted the last goal of the match.
