Glens make delay well worth the wait

Bray People - - SPORT -

GLENCORMAC UNITED may have had to wait almost three months, but the Kilmacanogue side finally got to play a match in 2011 on Saturday when they pipped Wicklow Rovers to a 3-2 win.

The hosts got off to the worst possible start at Ryder's Field when Wicklow League Youths star Darragh O'Donnell gave his side the lead with barely a minute on the clock.

United recovered though and hit back to lead 2-1 thanks to a Cian McGoldrick double.

O'Donnell struck his fifth goal in three games however to ensure that the sides went in all square at the break.

Both teams had chances to win it in the second period but it was McGoldrick who popped up with the vital goal; securing the three points for his side and completing his hat-trick at the same time with a late strike.
