Transfer applications

Bray People - - SPORT -

A NUMBER of transfer applications were granted at last week's County Board meeting; others were refused and sent back to the CCC for further consideration.

One particular application was for a player wishing to transfer from Lacken to Blessington.

Blessington chairman Michael Sergeant spoke passionately in support of the transfer, but County Chairman Mick Hagan said that the matter was not for debate as the CCC had made its decision and it was final.

The application was refused.

There was some lighthearted relief when an application on behalf of Andre Slepko, seeking a transfer from Donard to Blessington, came before the meeting.

Asked if he knew the applicant, Donard's Peter Case replied: 'I don't know the chap, it is not a Donard name.'

It emerged at the meeting that a number of clubs had not paid affiliations. If they were not paid by Thursday night (last week) then the division one league games would not be going ahead that weekend as players would not be covered by insurance.
