Greystones celebrate great year in style
EIRE OG Greystones dinner dance was held in the Greystones Rugby Club last Saturday night and Chairman Fergus O'Brien, M.C for the night welcomed everybody.
The club were celebrating one of the greatest years in their history and certainly can look forward to the future with confidence.
Guests on the night included Club President Ray Barry and his wife Ann, Central Council Representative Jackie Napier and his wife Josie, Bord na nOg Chairman Damien Byrne and his wife Ann, Kevin Keys who was representing his son Alan, President of the Greystones Rugby Club and the Lord Mayor of Greystones Kieran Hayden and his wife Kim. There was apologies from County Chairman Mick Hagan who was at Leinster Convention in Longford.
All guests were asked to say a few words and Jackie Napier presented Division 4 medals to the Junior B winners. Damien Byrne presented the Minor A medals to the county minor champions.
On the night there was a special presentation which Eire Og Greystones make every year and that is Club Person of the Year. This year's recipient was one of the great workers at every level for club and county Dr Brendan Cuddihy. Brendan received a standing ovation.
Brendan thanked everyone in the club for their support over the years and spoke highly of the youth in the club and remarked on their achievements in the past couple of years with both club and county. Bren- dan finished off by asking Bord na nOg chairman Damien Byrne to convey his best wishes to county footballer John McGrath who is sick at this present time and extend his and the club's good wishes to John and his family.
Player of the year awards were presented to Gino Fusciardi; Liam McDonald; Martin Joyce; Luke Bradley; James Kelly; Darren Hayden and Karl Monahan and Lisa Gilllen. Special presen- tations were made to intermediate football team manager John Keane (while his wife Helen received a bouquet of flowers) and to Peter Keane who was selected on the Ireland Hurling/Shinty team.
