Grey­stones cel­e­brate great year in style

EIRE OG Grey­stones din­ner dance was held in the Grey­stones Rugby Club last Satur­day night and Chair­man Fer­gus O'Brien, M.C for the night wel­comed ev­ery­body.

The club were cel­e­brat­ing one of the great­est years in their his­tory and cer­tainly can look for­ward to the fu­ture with con­fi­dence.

Guests on the night in­cluded Club Pres­i­dent Ray Barry and his wife Ann, Cen­tral Coun­cil Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Jackie Napier and his wife Josie, Bord na nOg Chair­man Damien Byrne and his wife Ann, Kevin Keys who was rep­re­sent­ing his son Alan, Pres­i­dent of the Grey­stones Rugby Club and the Lord Mayor of Grey­stones Kieran Hay­den and his wife Kim. There was apolo­gies from County Chair­man Mick Ha­gan who was at Le­in­ster Con­ven­tion in Long­ford.

All guests were asked to say a few words and Jackie Napier pre­sented Divi­sion 4 medals to the Ju­nior B win­ners. Damien Byrne pre­sented the Mi­nor A medals to the county mi­nor cham­pi­ons.

On the night there was a spe­cial pre­sen­ta­tion which Eire Og Grey­stones make ev­ery year and that is Club Per­son of the Year. This year's re­cip­i­ent was one of the great work­ers at ev­ery level for club and county Dr Bren­dan Cud­dihy. Bren­dan re­ceived a stand­ing ova­tion.

Bren­dan thanked ev­ery­one in the club for their sup­port over the years and spoke highly of the youth in the club and re­marked on their achieve­ments in the past cou­ple of years with both club and county. Bren- dan fin­ished off by ask­ing Bord na nOg chair­man Damien Byrne to con­vey his best wishes to county foot­baller John McGrath who is sick at this present time and ex­tend his and the club's good wishes to John and his fam­ily.

Player of the year awards were pre­sented to Gino Fus­cia­rdi; Liam McDon­ald; Martin Joyce; Luke Bradley; James Kelly; Dar­ren Hay­den and Karl Mon­a­han and Lisa Gil­llen. Spe­cial pre­sen- tations were made to in­ter­me­di­ate foot­ball team man­ager John Keane (while his wife He­len re­ceived a bou­quet of flow­ers) and to Peter Keane who was se­lected on the Ire­land Hurl­ing/Shinty team.

En­joy­ing the Eire Óg din­ner dance in Grey­stones Rugby Club were back; Gerry Walsh, Bren­dan Cud­dihy and Larry Browne; and front; Tr­ish Walsh, Laura Cud­dihy and Madge Browne.
