Bray start with win
Bray Emmets 2-5 AGB 1-6
BRAY EMMETS got their league campaign in Division 1 off to a winning start on Sunday when they scored a home win over AGB.
This was not a great display of football from either team, probably explained away by the fact that both teams were a bit ring-rusty after the winter lay-off, also they were short many of their regular Senior players. AGB only recorded one score for the entire first half, a goal by Jason Earls, and they trailed Bray by 1-0 to 0-4 at half-time.
In the second half Bray Emmets clinched the league points with two goals by John Henderson and Stephen McNicholas whereas AGB were left to bemoan vital missed opportunities, most notably Andy Brennan rattling a shot off the goal post and Gary Tyrrell pulling his effort wide of the far post after a good run.
Mikey Browne was sensational for Bray as he lined out after an absence of two years. Relocating from full-forward to centre-back, he teamed up with the Murphy brothers Aaran and Cailean to form the best line on the field.
Bray Emmets scorers: John Henderson (1-0), Stephen McNicholas (1-2), John O'Keeffe (0-2), Barry Cunningham (0-1).
AGB scorers: Jason Earls (1-0), Philip Healy (0-1), Niall Mullet (0-5, three from frees and two from play).
