Man made fire threat

Bray People - - NEWS -

A MAN who threatened ‘I will start setting fire to houses so you will know it was me,’ was granted bail at Bray District Court last Thursday, with strict conditions.

Michael O’Toole (26), previously of 18 Sugarloaf Crescent, Bray, must now stay at 11 Ramsgate, Gorey and sign on daily at Gorey Garda Station. He must also observe a curfew of 10 p.m. to 7 ap.m. He is accused of burglary, criminal damage, and stealing a bike, at different locations in Bray on February 22.

O’Toole appeared in Arklow District Court the previous week where bail was refused and the matter was adjourned to Bray. His replies to the charges were ‘I did no harm to that man’s house. I said that in my statement. That man is making it up’ and ‘I will start setting fire to houses so you will know it was me.’

Judge Connellan took this comment into account when refusing bail and the fact that the Garda told court that the accused is alleged to have reoffended within hours of previous release.

Judge Murrough Connellan, said that an independent surety of €750 would be required for bail.
