A DUBLIN MAN who climbed onto the platform at Bray Station in the early hours of the morning had been drinking, but was not drunk, according to the arresting garda.

Garda Elizabeth Collins was called to the Dart Station on the morning of February 12, where Raheny man Seán Mulhall (30) was arrested for trespassing. She added that he had since apologised for the incident.

‘I'd like to apologise to yourself, your honour, to the gardai and to the court for causing an inconvenience,' said Mul- hall. ‘ That is an apology, which is of course accepted, but what do you say about the event itself ?' wondered Judge Murrough Connellan.

Mulhall said that it was down to ‘stupidity, and alcohol. I was drunk and made a stupid decision.'

Judge Connellan asked what the man had been doing that night before his arrest, to which he replied he had been drinking in a seafront bar until around 3 a.m.

‘I'm not totally satisfied with the story,' said Judge Connellan, before binding Mulhall to the peace for one year.
