Confusion on papers?

Bray People - - COUNCIL REPORT -

THE MASSIVE AMOUNT of General Election candidates in Wicklow caused confusion on the ballot paper according to members of Wicklow County Council.

At a recent meeting Cllr. John Brady said ‘there was confusion about the ballot paper because of the double columns.

‘There were a large number of Independent candidates on the ballot paper and there was no indication in the box where other candidates had their party logo which were blank - causing confusion. Something should have been in those blank boxes either Non Party or Independent to help reduce the amount of spoilt votes.’

Cllr. George Jones agreed saying ‘I can't understand why Non Party or Independent weren’t put there (in the blank boxes). Some older people hadn’t a clue.’
