Flowers for mothers
TWO YOUNG mothers were presented with bouquets of flowers this week for their culinary skills at the St Fergal's Resource Centre ‘Come Dine With Me' competition.
Amy Kinsella and Jessie Donnolly won first prize in the competition, in which all nine members of the young mothers' group participated.
The ladies paired up to cook a dish for their peers every second Wednesday for four weeks. Now that it's all over, they will be enjoying a lovely lunch today in Jasmine House.
Everyone got a certificate for taking part in the competition, and they enjoyed presenting each other with their signature dishes. It was Amy and Jessie's ‘rogan josh' that topped the poll, however, with a dessert of ‘ heart tarts' for St Valentine's Day.
The girls are aged 18 to 25 and the group has been on the go since September. They attend every Monday and Wednesday for a combination of talks, activities and socialising.
‘Every week they do something different,' said Paula Murphy, a coordinator. ‘We still have room for more members,' said Paula, adding that anyone interested can contact the resource centre on 01 2760376.
