Rise of Har­ris va­cates county coun­cil seat

THE ELEC­TION OF for­mer county coun­cil­lor Si­mon Har­ris to Dáil Eire­ann has left an open spot on Wick­low County Coun­cil.

From the Grey­stones Elec­toral Area, Si­mon must now be re­placed by an agreed mem­ber of Fine Gael. Leader of the Fine Gael branch of Wick­low County Coun­cil, Cllr. Ge­orge Jones, said the Grey­stones branch of Fine Gael will be hold­ing its se­lec­tion con­ven­tion on Fri- day night in Shore­line Leisure Cen­tre, Grey­stones where two can­di­dates, Grainne McLough­lin and Cllr. James O'Sullivan, will battle it out for the seat.

Grainne is a for­mer town coun­cil­lor and has been a driv­ing force be­hind Wick­low and Grey­stones en­try in the Liv­Com Awards. James cur­rently sits on Grey­stones Town Coun­cil and is one of the youngest mem­bers of the town coun­cil.

Si­mon Har­ris cel­e­brates his Gen­eral Elec­tion vic­tory with his mum Mary.
