Jones praises conduct of unsuccessful candidates

Bray People - - ELECTION 2011 -

CLLR. GEORGE JONES, Fine Gael Leader of Wicklow County Council, has praised the conduct of other candidates at the recent election count in Shoreline Greystones.

‘While the result was great for Fine Gael and Andrew Doyle, Simon Harris and Billy Timmins combined to give the party the best ever result in Wicklow it is right that we praise candidates who were not successful.

‘In particular former Deputy Joe Behan who having lost his seat earlier stayed around to congratulate all successful TDs.

‘Cllr. Pat Fitzgerald despite the efforts by his own party to have him eliminated also showed great courtesy to everyone.'

Cllr. Jones also highlighted the courtesy shown by Cllr. John Brady and his supporters to the Fine Gael candidates on a difficult night for him.

‘At times when we oppose each other it is also correct that we give credit where it is due and that we should show respect for our colleagues operating in the political system.'

Sorting out the winners from the losers after last week’s General Election.
