HAMLET AT THE HELIX
Ms. Fitzgerald, Mr. Cronin and Mr. Sillery escorted three fifth year classes to the Helix this week for a viewing of Hamlet the Shakespearian play on their Leaving Cert course. The bus left from outside DCW shortly before six and returned late. The evening was both entertaining and educational for all involved.
FUNDRAISING FOR TANZANIA
Over the midterm break Mr. O Brien's band of TY students involved with the Tanzania project did a three day fundraising bag pack in the local Tesco store. Many thanks are extended to all who contributed financially and indeed with their manpower. 3,230 euro was collected which is indeed a testament to the good will and generosity of the Wicklow community. Future fundraising events are planned, a bric a brac sale on St. Patrick's weekend in O’Reilly’s shop on Lower Main Street, Wicklow, a bollywood dance workshop and a set dancing ceilli in the GAA club on April 1st. Volunteers are also being recruited to run or walk in the women's mini marathon in June.
On March 16th Ms. Carthy and the Hockey Captains are organising a fundraising inter class blitz in the school for Tanzania. This is an excellent opportunity for all those who have never tried hockey before to give it a go!
