Our Transition Year production of the hit musical Guys and Dolls took place prior to the mid-term break and it most certainly was, a hit. The cast and crew put on the most enjoyable and professional of shows during both matinees and evening performances. The leading roles were portrayed with passion and true commitment and highlight the wealth of innate talent the students possess outside of the academics.
Following the production our Transition Years have now taken to the wilds of Donegal for the annual trip to Gartan outdoor pursuits and adventure centre.
The trip will see the group try their hand at a host of outdoor activities where they will discover new skills and talents.
The St. Gerard’s School Drama Group swept the boards at the St. Andrew’s Drama Festival prior to the mid-term break. Evie Weir (3rd year) won Best Actor, Shane Kenneally (1st year) was runner-up in the Best Actor category, St. Gerard’s School were runner-up in the Best Play category and Ms. Eithne Carney won Best Director. Ms. Carney has been awarded Best Director at the Festival twice in the last three years. Congratulations to all involved in the rehearsals, production and performance of the various pieces.
In sport we congratulate St. Gerard’s Show Jumping team who won the Open Interschools Showjumping competition in Boswells Equestrian Centre. This is our second win in the Hoofprints League, our first being back in September.
Our Cross Country team lined up to take the field in the Leinster Schools Cross Country in February. We were proud to enter our largest representation in the event with Elena Tice, Laura Finnerty, Lauren Lynch and Mark Gallagher racing. All three runners performed well but were just outside the qualifying spots for the All Irelands.
