OUR FRIENDS in the Enniskerry History Society are holding a very interesting lecture of local interest in the Powerscourt Arms Hotel, Enniskerry Village this Thursday night at 8-30 pm.
Local historian and author Liam Clare will outline the story of “Enclosing the Commons at the Sugar Loaf Mountains 1820 - 1870” which will cover the enclosing of the commonage on these mountains during this period.
As Liam will reveal, this process was marked with anti-enclosure riots at the Big Sugarloaf and individual small encroachments on the Little Sugar Loaf. All welcome to attend. Admission is just €3 and all are welcome.
