A record number of members of the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club participated in the club night climb on the Small Sugarloaf Mountain. On the summit the thirty climbers turned off all their lights, and remained silent for half a minute as they gazed at the night scene above and below. Next major climb will be Djouce Mountain.

Lent: Lent commences today (Wednesday) Ash Wednesday and ashes will be blessed and distributed at the 10am, 11.30am ( School Mass) and 1.05pm Masses. Lent is an opportunity to deepen and explore the memory of our faith. It can be difficult to keep our faith alive in these difficult economic times and the crisis in our Church.
We have provided a menu of possible options during Lent. We may give up something or do something extra, Have a look at the front page of last week's newsletter as you will find something that will nourish your spirit and soul. Don't miss the opportunity.
Family Individual Prayer During Lent: This is an opportunity to spend 15/20 minutes in prayer once a week as a family or individual. We will provide a Prayer Leaflet, Candle, copy of St. Luke's Gospel and a Trocaire Box. If you wish to take part, please place your name and address on the sheet at the back of the Church as a sign of your commitment.
First Holy Communion: Next Monday night there will be meeting for all parent of children receiving their First Holy Communion in May at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre and all parents are asked to attend.
Seniors Bingo: This takes place on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm in the Villa Pacis - all welcome.
Charismatic Prayer Group: This Group meets on Thursday nights at 8pm in the Villa Pacis.
Baptism: Baptisms take place on Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on the 2nd Sunday of the Month.
Reminder: On Saturday the final Confirmation Preparation Mass will take place at 6.30pm in the Church and all Confirmation candidates and their families are invited to attend.
CASA: CASA (The Caring and Sharing Association) wish to thank parishioners for their generosity to their recent collection which raised €465.
Bugisi Mission Project: To encourage students to persevere and work hard, Sr. Anne's school has introduced a scholarship scheme , The news about Fr. Bembo is not good and we are all asked to pray for him. The drought continues with shortages in food and water.
2011 Holy Land Pilgrimage: The Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land will take place from Monday May 23rd to Tuesday May 31st 2011. The cost is €1150 per person sharing, Half Board. Non-refundable booking deposit €250 - limited numbers. Those interested are asked to contact the Parish Office or Fr. Larry on 01-286 2346.
2011 Lourdes Pilgrimage: This will take place from September 7th to September 12th. Total cost €689 - Deposit Cost €50. Further details from 01-2745497 between 10am and 1pm.
Booking of Masses: Mass Cards and the booking of Masses will be looked after in St. Laurence's Office in the Villa Pacis (beside the Parish Office). If you are unable to get the date you require, perhaps it may help to have the person included in the Mass on that date.
New Hymn Books: New hymn books have been purchased and will be available all around the Church. Please use them at Mass as singing is very important for our celebrations. Please do not remove them from the Church.
World Youth Day: 5 young people from the parish will be attending this event in Madrid, Spain, in August -Shane Whelan, Bentley Park; Fiona Doherty, Seacrest; Isabella Veale, Avoca Drive; Laura Green, Woodbrook Lawn; and Zahraa Mohamed, Putland Villas. Please pray for them as they prepare for this pilgrimage.
Prayer Cards for Confirmation Children: Cards will be left on a table in the Church. Parishioners are welcome to take a card and pray for the young person named on the chosen card. Please return the card to the table before leaving the Church. Thank you.
Celebrating 21 Years of Perpetual Adoration: Fr. Godfrey will lead a Holy Hour for Lent every Friday at 8pm consisting of Stations of the Cross, Chaplets of Divine Mercy and Rosary.
Novena of Grace: This continues until Saturday and is directed by Fr. Kieran Cronin, OFM. Novena prayers will be said at the 10am and 1.05pm Masses. Fr. Cronin will speak at the 10am Mass only. The Prayer Petition Box will be in the Church.
Child Protection Policy: A copy of the Parish Child Protection Policy can be viewed in the Parish Offices.
Bethany Bereavement Group: The Our Lady Queen of Peace Bethany Support hold a Drop-In evening on the first Tuesday of every month at the Villa Pacis at 8.30pm for those suffering loss of every kind. If you would like to find out more please call 087-9905299 or contact Sam through the Parish Office.
North Wicklow/ Bray Stroke Club Meets every Monday morning 10am-12noon in the Villa Pacis beside Our Queen of Peace Church. If you have been affected by a stroke or are a carer and would like to come along you will be most welcome.
A meeting takes place on March 11th at 11am in the Villa Pacis and all members are requested to attend. Details of outings and future events will be announced.
