MU­SI­CAL THANKS

Round­wood Va­ri­ety Group would like to thank all those who sup­ported their show last week­end in the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre. That's what makes all the hard work worth­while & we re­ally ap­pre­ci­ate it.

AC­TIVE RE­TIRED BINGO

The Round­wood Ac­tive Re­tire­ment Fun Bingo will recom­mence on Thurs­day 10th March at 8pm in the Old School Round­wood. Fam­ily mem­bers and friends are more than wel­come to come along. New mem­bers are al­ways wel­come.

COM­MU­NITY COUN­CIL

Round­wood & District Com­mu­nity Coun­cil will meet at 8pm on Mon­day 14th March in the Old School Round­wood. New mem­ber are wel­come.

DANCE DATES

The next dance in Round­wood Parish Hall/Cen­tre will be on the 25th March mu­sic will be by Tony Davitt. On the 15th April mu­sic will be by Golden Dream and on the 20th May mu­sic by Gerry Galvin and the Wick­low man will play on the 17th June and Rio on the 15th July. Dancing is from 9.30pm - 12 mid­night with tea and a raf­fle. There will be a tea dance on Sun­day 13th March 2011 from 3pm - 6pm with mu­sic by Wil­liam Belton and we will also have a tea dance on 5th June from 3pm - 6pm with mu­sic by Wil­liam also.

TEA DANCE

There will be an af­ter­noon tea dance in Round­wood Parish Cen­tre on Sun­day 13th March from 3pm - 6pm with mu­sic by Wil­liam. Re­fresh­ments will be served and ev­ery­one is wel­come to come along and en­joy.

KNOCK

A pil­grim­age S.M.A to Knock will take place on the Sun­day 28th May leav­ing Laragh at 7a.m. via Round­wood at 7.30a.m. Bus €25 per per­son. Names to Su­san at 0404 45276.

CON­CERT

The Unity Gospel Choir will hold a con­cert in Round­wood Parish Hall on Fri­day 1st April from 8pm - 10.30pm. Ad­mis­sion €10 with all money raised go­ing to The Wick­low Moun­tain Res­cue. Tick­ets are in Justines shop or can be bought on the door on the night.

BUS TOUR TO AUS­TRIA

A ten day tour of Aus­tria St An­ton and Lake Con­stance will take place from 29th June to 8th July. No fly­ing in­volved just coach and cruise. Places to visit are Rot­ter­dam, Ger­many, Vavaria Inns­bruck and Black For­est. We also will visit the largest wa­ter­fall in Europe, the Rhein Falls. Names and €100 de­posit is re­quired as soon as pos­si­ble to Su­san at 0404 45276 any evening af­ter 8pm.

BI-ATHLON

Our an­nual biathlon which was can­celled due to bad weather in De­cem­ber, will now take place on St. Pa­trick's Day. Whether you fancy a stroll, run, cy­cle or both come join us for a great af­ter­noon out. With re­fresh­ments af­ter­wards mu­sic and crack in Ka­vanagh's you are guar­an­teed a great Paddy's Day. The next event we are en­ter­ing is cross­coun­try run­ning, any child in­ter­ested in tak­ing part should get their name to Bren­dan Lawlor or Anne Marah by next Fri­day night. There is Un­der 8, 10, 12,13,14, and 16s. The competition is on in Rath­drum on 28th March. We are hop­ing to have a large num­ber of en­ter­ies for this event.

MASS OF RE­MEM­BRANCE

The An­nual Mass of Re­mem­brance for for­mer parish­ioners and fam­ily mem­bers of parish­ioners who died since our Mass last March, will take place on Satur­day 19th March at 6.30pm

CIR­CUIT TRAIN­ING

Cir­cuit train­ing and body con­di­tion­ing start­ing Tues­day 22nd March from 7-8pm at the parish hall, Round­wood, €7.50 per class or sign up for 8 classes for €55, please bring a mat/wa­ter and plenty of en­ergy

BAD­MINTON

Did you play bad­minton as a young­ster and would like to give it a go again? Now's your chance - join us for an hour of fun bad­minton on Tues­day morn­ings from 9.30am in the sports com­plex. Spare rack­ets are avail­able, Age/fit­ness level no bar­rier, so no ex­cuses.

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wick­low Man will play in Moneystown Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Fri­day 11th March from 9.30pm un­til 12. Teas, spot prizes, re­fres­ments also avail­able. Come along and en­joy a night of waltz­ing,jive etc. Back next month is John Flood on 8th April. Up­com­ing dates, Wick­low Man 13th May and Richie Halpin on 10th June.

002 BRIDGE

Fri­day 4th March saw Maria Magee and Rowena Brady take 1st place with June Digby and Mon­ica Brady tak­ing 2nd whilst Mar­ian Coyle and Triona Woodroofe were 3rd , Carol Vam­beck and Sinead Mad­den were 4th and Mol­lie Byrne and Rachel Judd were 5th. All mem­bers and vis­i­tors please note there will be no Bridge in Round­wood on Fri­day 11th and 18th March re­spec­tively. Bridge re­sumes again on Fri­day 25th March at 9.45am sharp. all wel­come no part­ner re­quired.

PLOUGH­ING SO­CI­ETY

Round­wood Plough­ing So­ci­ety held their an­nual Plough­ing Match on Satur­day the 26th of Fe­bru­ary last. We would sin­cerely like to thank the fol­low­ing Mr. John Byrne, Knock­atem­ple for pro­vid­ing an ex­cel­lent site, the spon­sors, the Judges Tom Jenk­in­son, Tom McDon­ald, James Mur­phy, James Sut­ton, Pat Spratt, Joe McGrath and Mick Mur­phy, Joe Ka­vanagh, Vartry House for the use of his premises for meet­ings through­out the year, Jur­gen and Aine Sch­walm and the staff of the Round­wood Inn who pro­vided a beau­ti­ful meal as al­ways for ev­ery­body con­cerned, and fi­nally the com­peti­tors who came in such large num­bers, thirty six in all in­clud­ing three sets of horses one of the big­gest turnouts in Round­wood for many years.

The re­sults were as fol­lows: Cham­pion Class - 1st Billy Don­nelly, 2nd Richard Kee­gan, 3rd Liam Ham­mil­ton. Un­der 28 - 1st David Hay­den. Macra Class - 1st Jane Stephens. Two Fur­row Re­versible - 1st Tom Don­nelly. Three Fur­row - 1st Peader Shortt. Vintage Two Fur­row Mounted - 1st Paddy Doyle, 2nd Tommy Tutty, 3rd Peter O'Con­nell. Clas­sic Trac­tor - 1st Richard Finn, 2nd David Liv­ingston, 3rd Bill Mur­phy. Sin­gle Fur­row - Joint 1st Philip Jack­man and Noel Cum­mins, 2nd Nick Welsh. Trailer Plough - 1st Tommy Pierce, 2nd Peter Duffy. Horses - 1st Gerry King, 2nd Ed­ward Dowse, 3rd Kevin Do­ran.

Fi­nally, the County Plough­ing Din­ner Dance was held last Satur­day night in The Grand Ho­tel, Wick­low, and a very en­joy­able night was had by all. We would like to thank the Ho­tel for a beau­ti­ful meal, Im­ages who pro­vided great mu­sic as usual and ev­ery­one for com­ing and mak­ing the night such a suc­cess.

ST PA­TRICK’S DANCING

We will cel­e­brate St Pa­trick's night in true Ir­ish Style with a Set Dance Party in Ka­vanagh's Lounge on Thurs­day, 17th March from 9.30pm with live mu­sic by Michael, Matt and Brian. Tick­ets at €10 are now avail­able from any mem­ber or phone 087 2121522. Food served on the night.

LOTTO

Congratulations to Josh, Ryan & Kai who scooped the jack­pot of €5,600 last week­end, the num­bers drawn were 3, 11, 14 & 25. There were five match three win­ners, Pa­trick Healy, N.P., Natasha Byrne, Ann Byrne & Mary Power. Next weeks jack­pot will be €5,000.
