RATHDRUM GYMNASTICS club have seen lots of competition action in the past two weeks.

Two weeks back they entered 13 trampolinists into the Irish Gymnastics All-Ireland national finals in Newry.

Seven were medallists in their age group and levels, Ali Patterson 3rd, Andrew Traynor 2nd, Ciara Flood 3rd, Ellen Patterson 1st, Lauren Kelly 3rd, Sarah Burke 2nd and Rebecca Connor 3rd. Eleven of the thirteen from the club were placed in the top ten.

Last weekend saw the first trampoline competition of the new season with Rathdrum hosting the competition and entering 20 trampolinists and winning seven gold, three silver and four bronze medals.

Five of the trampolinists, Ciara Flood, Izzi Kelly, Emma Byrne, Ruth Howell and Andrew Traynor, have moved up to a much more difficult level and their performance was superb. Ellen Patterson got one of the highest scores of the day and along with Jade Duggan performed a five somersault routine which is their best performance to date. Many thanks to the club trampoline coaches, Jade Duggan, Louise Walshe and the head coach Les for all their work.
