Fined after walking on motorway
ENNISCORTHY MAN Gavin Tobin received a fine of € 150 at Bray District Court last night after pleading guilty to walking on the motorway at Shankill.
Tobin told Judge Murrough Connellan that he had no money on the night of February 19 and was trying to make his way home.
Inspector Tom Finnerty told the Judge that gardaí responded to a number of calls regarding a pedestrian on the motorway.
He gave evidence that Tobin was drunk, however he told the judge last Thursday that he never drinks.
He was arrested for being drunk and a danger to traffic.
The Court heard that the defendant was obnoxious in the garda car.
However, Tobin told the court that the gardaí offered to bring him to the nearest slip road from where he could walk safely.
‘ The female garda's clothes were stuffed in behind the seat on the floor and she started giving out that I would dirty them. I moved over as soon as they said it to me,' said Tobin.
