Fined af­ter walk­ing on mo­tor­way

EN­NIS­COR­THY MAN Gavin Tobin re­ceived a fine of € 150 at Bray District Court last night af­ter plead­ing guilty to walk­ing on the mo­tor­way at Shankill.

Tobin told Judge Mur­rough Con­nel­lan that he had no money on the night of Fe­bru­ary 19 and was try­ing to make his way home.

In­spec­tor Tom Finnerty told the Judge that gar­daí re­sponded to a num­ber of calls re­gard­ing a pedes­trian on the mo­tor­way.

He gave ev­i­dence that Tobin was drunk, how­ever he told the judge last Thurs­day that he never drinks.

He was ar­rested for be­ing drunk and a dan­ger to traf­fic.

The Court heard that the de­fen­dant was ob­nox­ious in the garda car.

How­ever, Tobin told the court that the gar­daí of­fered to bring him to the near­est slip road from where he could walk safely.

‘ The fe­male garda's clothes were stuffed in be­hind the seat on the floor and she started giv­ing out that I would dirty them. I moved over as soon as they said it to me,' said Tobin.
