A NEW club has joined the growing network of Toastmasters groups in the north Wicklow/South Dublin area.

Dublin South Toastmasters is said to be the first club launched electronically on Facebook and over the web.

It meets every first and third Tuesday of the month at Bewleys Hotel Leopardstown at 8 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend the first three meetings for free and will not be asked to speak unless they wish to.

Each meeting is composed of around 20 to 30 people. Participants practice and learn skills by filling a meeting role, ranging from giving a prepared speech or an impromptu one to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian.

There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in a positive manner, focusing on what was done right and what could be improved.

For more information go to www.dublinsouthtoastmas or find them on Facebook. The Bray Toastmasters Group meets in the Esplanade Hotel on Monday evenings at 8 p.m.
