On Wednesday and Thursday last our Sixth Year History students enjoyed a trip to the historical city of Derry. Accompanied by their teachers Ms. Egan and Mr. Duggan the students visited a number of interesting sites including the Free Derry Museum, The Apprentice Boy’s Hall and a guided tour along the city walls. The students regarded the trip as thoroughly enjoyable and very beneficial for their Leaving Certificate History Course.
SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE
This week Seactain na Gaeilge was enjoyed by both teachers and pupils in Coláiste Pobail Abhann Dála. Classes took part in various activities and events to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge and to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Transition Year classes presented projects on various aspects of Cultur na Gaeilge to Junior classes. While First and Second Year students took part in a poster competition and our annual Table Quiz. Tráthnona na Gaeilge will be celebrated on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day where students will enjoy a traditional Irish celebration of ceili, ceol agus craic.
Congratulations to our First Year Boys’ Basketball Team who beat Arklow CBS in their recent match and will now play Comeragh College in the regional semifinals.
Our First Year Boys will take part in a football blitz on Wednesday 16 March organised by Leighton Glynn.
Best wishes to our Junior Girl's Basketball team who will play St. Mary’s College, Arklow in the first round of the league.
TRANSITION YEAR NEWS
Our Transition Year students have been keeping of late with a number of activities. Many thanks to Eimear Nesbitt, Dental Hygienist for County Wicklow, for her informative talk on Dental Hygiene. A number of Transition Year students are also taking part in an 8 week Web Design Course under the excellent guidance of Mary Ann Byrne. Following their referring course, with Hugh Kenny and the Wicklow GAA, 40 Transition Year students successfully completed their refereeing exams on Friday 11 March.
TY TRIP TO COLLINS BARRACKS
On Wednesday, March 11, the TY students, accompanied by Ms. O’Reilly and Ms. Noone enjoyed a trip to Collins Barracks as part of their Cultural Studies module.
