FEIS CEOIL AN INBHIR MHÓIR

Comhghaird­eas do Ch­lub Dra­maíochta na Scoile a bhuaigh an céad duais sa Feis Ceoil Dé Satharn seo chaite. Bhuaigh siad freisin an duais don léirtheoir is fearr (Oide Roisín), an ban-ais­teoir is fearr (Katie Ní Caoimh) agus fuair roinnt scoláirí eile teas­t­ais molta. Ar an Domh­nach bhuaigh cór na scoile an céad duais sa chomór­tas Sa­cred Mu­sic, corn agus seic ar €30. Dé Máirt bhuaigh rang 1M an céad duais sa chomór­tas “Cho­ral Verse”.

Bhuaigh 1G an dara duais sa chomór­tas céanna. Mo­ladh an dá rang as an ard-caighdeán a bhain said amach. Míle buíochas do na múin­teoirí a d’oib­righ chomh dian sin ag ullmhú na dal­taí do na co­mor­taisí.

Congratulations to the GCM Drama Club who won first prize in the Ju­nior Drama sec­tion at the Ark­low Fes­ti­val last Satur­day. The play also won prizes for best di­rec­tor, best ac­tress and many cer­tifi­cates of com­men­da­tion. On Sun­day the school choir won first place in the Sa­cred Mu­sic competition, a cup and cheque for €30. On Tues­day class 1M won first prize in the Cho­ral verse competition. Class 1G was awarded sec­ond prize. Both classes were highly com­mended on the high stan­dard of their en­try. Many thanks to the teach­ers for their hard work in pre­par­ing stu­dents for the Ark­low Fes­ti­val

Fuair gach scoláire foirm le líon­adh ag cur in iul an rogha atá déanta aige/aici. Caith­fidh na foirmeacha sin bheith ar ais roimh an Luan 14ú. An in­ter­est­ing and in­for­ma­tive pre­sen­ta­tion on Leav­ing Cert. Op­tional sub­jects took place for all stu­dents who will be­gin Se­nior Cy­cle in Septem­ber. Stu­dents must now make dif­fi­cult choices and list their pre­ferred sub­jects in or­der of choice.

The Par­ents’ com­mit­tee hosted their an­nual ta­ble-quiz last Thurs­day night in The Old Ship. Many thanks to ev­ery­one who came out to sup­port our school and well done!!

MARATÓN BEAG BÍDEACH NA MBAN

Caith­fidh tú clarú ar líne ag flora mini marathon.ie agus d’ainm a thab­hairt don scoil ag rá go mbeidh tú linn. We are look­ing for ladies to join our team and take part in the Flora Mini Marathon in June on be­half of Gael­choláiste na Mara. You must reg­is­ter on­line with flora mini-marathon and then give your name into the school of­fice to be in­cluded for travel ar­range­ments etc.

Fuair beirt dal­taí Éadaoin Nic Mhuiris agus Dar­ren Ó Conchúr deis ion­tach an tseach­tain seo chaite nu­air a chaith siad cúig lá ag deanamh taithí oibre le RTÉ. Bhuail siad le re­altóga cial­iúla ar nós Saoirse Ronán agus Ryan Tubridy. Thug siad cuairt ar an seomra nuachta, ar an gCe­oláras Naisiúnta, ar seit Fair city agus rinne siad gearrscan­nán le scoláirí ó scoileanna eile a bhi in éineacht leo. Two stu­dents Éadaoin Fitz­mau­rice and Dar­ren Ó Con­nor got a won­der­ful op­por­tu­nity last week to do a week’s work­ex­pe­ri­ence in RTE. They met peo­ple of note like Saoirse Ronán, Ryan Tubridy and the cast of Fair City. They vis­ited the news room, ra­dio sta­tion, the na­tional con­cert hall, the set of Fair city and made a short movie pro­duc­tion record­ing their ex­pe­ri­ences.
