Aughrim into semis
AUGHRIM RANGERS A stormed into the semi finals of the Division 1 Cup on Sunday thanks to a 4-1 victory over Glencormac United at Allen Park.
The hosts took the lead after 10 minutes of the contest but United hit back through Paul Devlin.
Rangers turned on the style though to lead 3-1 at the break and they added a fourth with half an hour left to play.
Derek Kavanagh bagged two of the Aughrim side's goals, while Rory O'Brien and Michael Healy were also on target.
St. Patrick's are also on their way to the semi finals. A Patrick Kennedy strike earned the Avoca side a 1-0 win over Greystones United.
One side that saw their last four hopes quashed at the weekend were Avonmore FC.
They went down to St. Anthony's in Ballygannon after extra time.
Dean Gahan had notched for the hosts in normal time but the Saints ran out comfortable 1-3 winners in the end.
Either Arklow United A or Wicklow Rovers A will complete the semi final quartet when they lock horns at Ferndale Park this Sunday morning.
