Arklow Town win title
ARKLOW TOWN lifted what they hope is the first of many trophies on Saturday as they overcame a stubborn Glencormac United side to lift the John Tobin Youth League.
With nine wins from nine going into Saturday's clash at the Bridgewater Centre Park, the Black and Whites knew three points would secure them the title.
But United threatened to spoil the party early on when Alan Pyke gave the Kilmacanogue side the lead after five minute.
The home side - resting several players with an eye on tonight's FAI Youth Interleague clash - rallied though and went in level at the break. A 50th minute penalty then saw Town go ahead for the first time in the match and a third strike in the 85th minute ensured that both the three points and the title would belong to the Arklow side.
Dara Verney, Niall Murphy and Jonathan Delahunt scored the goals for Arklow Town.
That title was, incredibly, the tenth consecutive league crown that this Arklow side have picked up in a row and in those years, Byrne's side did not lose a SINGLE game.
