Fairwood Celtic edge it
DIVISION 3 leaders Fairwood Celtic were made to work extremely hard to keep their dream of defending the Charlie Byrne Cup alive on Sunday.
They hosted promotion rivals Saints FC at Dunne's Field with a place in the last four at stake. The only previous meeting between the pair saw the duo play out a 1-1 draw and that result looked to be on the cards again when the visitors took the lead, only for PJ O'Keefe to equalise for the hosts.
The Wexford side then retook the lead but were powerless to prevent O'Keefe from striking again to leave the sides all square and then Tony Darcy - on target in last year's final - popped up with a late winner to break Saints' hearts.
