Aughrim Whites are top of the ta­ble

NOW INTO its third week the Aughrim U-8 In­door Hurl­ing Tour­na­ment has been a big hit with the bud­ding U-8 hurlers in the county.

Af­ter an in­vi­ta­tion went out to all hurl­ing clubs in the county some weeks ago, six teams are now tak­ing part in the tour­na­ment. Aughrim Whites, Aughrim Blues, Ark­low Rocks, Gle­nealy, Gleann Fhai­dle and Michael Dwyers, the competition runs for four weeks from 6.30 to 8.30 on a Fri­day night in the new sports com­plex in Aughrim.

There has been some very com­pet­i­tive games and it has been a joy to watch these young kids, some of whom have just taken up hurl­ing a few weeks ago go in to the games with such en­thu­si­asm.

Re­sults for week three are as fol­lows: Aughrim Whites 4, Ark­low Rocks 0; Michael Dwyers 3, Gle­nealy 1; Aughrim Blues 0, Gleann Fhai­dle 5; Ark­low Rocks 0, Michael Dwyers 3; Gle­nealy 2, Aughrim Blues 1; Gleann Fhai­dle 1, Aughrim Whites 4; Aughrim Blues 0, Ark­low Rocks 5; Gle­nealy 0, Gleann Fhai­dle 5; Aughrim Whites 4, Michael Dwyers.

Af­ter nine league games Aughrim Whites are on top of the leader board with 16 points, fol­lowed closely by Michael Dwyers with 15 points, Gleann Fhai­dle 10, Ark­low Rocks 7, Gle­nealy 6, Aughrim Blues 0

On fi­nals might, March 25 at 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. there will be ome more round of league games for each team, fol­lowed by the Cup, Shield and Plate fi­nals, so all teams still have it all to play for.
