Aughrim Whites are top of the table
NOW INTO its third week the Aughrim U-8 Indoor Hurling Tournament has been a big hit with the budding U-8 hurlers in the county.
After an invitation went out to all hurling clubs in the county some weeks ago, six teams are now taking part in the tournament. Aughrim Whites, Aughrim Blues, Arklow Rocks, Glenealy, Gleann Fhaidle and Michael Dwyers, the competition runs for four weeks from 6.30 to 8.30 on a Friday night in the new sports complex in Aughrim.
There has been some very competitive games and it has been a joy to watch these young kids, some of whom have just taken up hurling a few weeks ago go in to the games with such enthusiasm.
Results for week three are as follows: Aughrim Whites 4, Arklow Rocks 0; Michael Dwyers 3, Glenealy 1; Aughrim Blues 0, Gleann Fhaidle 5; Arklow Rocks 0, Michael Dwyers 3; Glenealy 2, Aughrim Blues 1; Gleann Fhaidle 1, Aughrim Whites 4; Aughrim Blues 0, Arklow Rocks 5; Glenealy 0, Gleann Fhaidle 5; Aughrim Whites 4, Michael Dwyers.
After nine league games Aughrim Whites are on top of the leader board with 16 points, followed closely by Michael Dwyers with 15 points, Gleann Fhaidle 10, Arklow Rocks 7, Glenealy 6, Aughrim Blues 0
On finals might, March 25 at 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. there will be ome more round of league games for each team, followed by the Cup, Shield and Plate finals, so all teams still have it all to play for.
