Pres Bray reunite three decades on

Bray People - - NEWS -

THREE DECADES since their glory-year playing rugby for Pres Bray, and three members of that team are still playing for Wexford.

The 30-year reunion of the team of 1980/81 took place recently in Jim Doyle's when the men got together to watch France versus England in the Six Nations.

‘ The majority of the team were there,' explained George Boyle, adding that some had travelled from as far as San Jose, Boston and Seattle especially for the get-together.

Unbeaten for the entire school year, the team lost the first round of the senior cup, their only recorded loss of the season.

Most of the attendees in Jim's hadn't seen each other since then, and had a great night reminiscing on the good old days.

John ‘Spud' Murphy, a former Irish international, is one of the three still active in Wexford, along with Pat Ryan and Joe Barry.

‘We want to keep these reunions going every year,' said George, who said that the tradition began last year with the team of ‘79/'80. ' You don't have to have been on the team that particular year, anyone who played rugby for Pres is welcome to any of the reunions, which will always take place during one of the Six Nations matches.'
