Fire fighters tackle blazing cars
TWO CARS were set alight within metres of each other in Bray last Monday night.
The first blaze was tackled by fire fighters at Duncairn Terrace at around midnight, while the second took place at Wyndham Park at around 1.30 a.m.
The fires were extinguished quickly by fire service personnel.
Gardai in Bray said that in at least one of those incidents, the perpetrators had attempted to steal the vehicle before setting it on fire.
A source at the scene said that the cars were parked outside their owners' homes rather than abandoned at those respective sites.
Gardai were present at both fires and are investigating the causes of the blazes.
This follows a spate of cars and other vehicles set on fire in the Bray and north Wicklow areas in recent months.
A car was burned out in Enniskerry a week prior to this event, at the gates of Powerscourt Estate.
Two special needs busses were engulfed by flames outside Marino Clinic in February, as well as a car and a van parked outside Homeland Furniture in Bray.
