Reduction in number of cars hit by thieves
AN OPERATION to prevent the theft of items from cars in County Wicklow proved very successful last weekend.
There was only one such incident from the start of the garda scheme last Thursday up until Sunday. ‘ This is a dramatic reduction,' said Detective Inspector Frank Keenaghan of Bray Garda Station.
He said that the operation included garda patrol and undercover monitoring of certain areas, as well as checkpoints where motorists were handed information pamphlets.
Det. Insp. Keenaghan said that the crime prevention leaflets warned people of the dangers of leaving valuables in their cars, as well as leaving vehicles unlocked.
