LORETO BRAY opened its doors to the future last Friday when the school held its first ever Library Day. To celebrate the opening of the newest addition to the school, the modern library was showcased to all and many activities were carried out throughout the day.

Guest Irish novelist Sarah Webb paid a visit to the school and enchanted the students with stories from her exciting career. She also played an extra part by judging the highlight of the day - the fancy dress competition. It was a tough decision as costumes ranged from Harry Potter to Elizabeth Bennett and teachers were highly amused to see fic- tional characters roaming the corridors.

Students competed in a literature table quiz and other activities included speed reading, a design a book cover competition and a race to see which year group could donate the most books to the library.

‘ The school was alight with energy throughout the day and was a great beginning to the new library,' said organiser Deirdre McDonnell. Hopefully a few new bookworms were converted on the day and everyone's Library Card will be put to good use throughout the year.
