Gar­dai be­lieve in­truder shot by home owner

A FIRE-ARM was dis­charged in Brit­tas Bay af­ter an in­truder was found in­side an­other per­son’s home.

A man was dis­turbed in­side a house at Cullen Lane, Three Mile Wa­ter by the owner of the prop­erty at around 6 p.m. on Sun­day March 13.

The in­truder was con­fronted by the home owner and a firearm was dis­charged.

The man who il­le­gally en­tered the house man­aged to es­cape and make his get­away.

Later that evening Wick­low Gar­dai re­ceived word that a man was on his way to Lough­lin­stown Hos­pi­tal where he pre­sented him­self with in­juries con­sis­tent with those sus­tained from a gun­shot.

His in­juries were mi­nor and he was re­leased from hos­pi­tal later that night.

No ar­rests have been made and the Gar­dai are still in­ves­ti­gat­ing the mat­ter.

It’s un­der­stood that the firearm which was dis­charged was legally owned.
