Sports Part­ner­ship events for April

TWO WICK­LOW Lo­cal Sports Part­ner­ship or­gan­ised events take place in the month of April, one in Wick­low town and the other in Laragh.

The Code of Ethics and Good Prac­tice for Chil­dren's Sport in Ire­land is for the ben­e­fit of ev­ery­one in­volved in chil­dren's sport, from the chil­dren and their par­ents and guardians to school teach­ers and sports lead­ers.

A three hour Code of Ethics and Good Prac­tice takes place in St. Pa­trick's GAA Club. Wick­low town on Tues­day April 5 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m..

The work­shop will high­light the main prin­ci­ples of the Code and look at mea­sures that clubs can take to cre­ate and main­tain the safest pos­si­ble en­vi­ron­ment for sport for young peo­ple. Par­tic­i­pants at­tend­ing the Code of Ethics work­shop must be over 18 years of age.

Places are lim­ited so pre-book­ing is es­sen­tial. The cost of the course is €15 per per­son. Ap­pli­ca­tion forms and fur­ther in­for­ma­tion are avail­able from the Wick­low Lo­cal Sports Part­ner­ship of­fice on ( 01) 2878184 or ado­herty@wick­low­coco.ie.

A sec­ond work­shop on ba­sic first aid pro­vi­sion takes place on Satur­day April 9 at the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre, Laragh.

This is a spe­cial in­ter­est course for those in­volved with sports teams. The course will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. It will cover top­ics such as ap­proaches to an ac­ci­dent, dis­or­ders of breath­ing and CPR, wounds and bleed­ing, frac­tures and bro­ken bones, spinal in­juries, burns and scalds and med­i­cal emer­gen­cies. The one day Sports In­juries First Aid Course fee is €55 per par­tic­i­pant and par­tic­i­pants re­ceive a cer­tifi­cate of at­ten­dance from Heart­beat Safety.
