THOSE Childcare Providers who’ve been providing places for ECCE, the free pre-school year; CCS, the Community Childcare Subvention Scheme; and CETS, the Childcare Employment Training Support Scheme (which provides subsidised places for some of those on VEC courses and FAS Training programmes), have recently been confirming their wish to continue doing so from September.
Any Childcare Providers who want to make an application to start providing places under any of these Schemes, (or school age facilities wanting to make an application for CETS) from September, must do so by April 1st, and can get information and application forms from the Wicklow County Child- care Committee (WCCC) offices: Kilmantin Hill, Wicklow Town, phone 0404 64455, email email@example.com .
The WCCCs Spring Training programme is now starting and its plans for further training in 2011, accredited and unaccredited, will be announced soon. Current details are, and future details will be, on the website, www.wccc.ie . Brochures are also available.
Following the new Government’s decision to have a stand-alone Department of Children with its own full Minister, a step up from the previous junior Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, the childcare sector looks forward to continued recognition and support, and now awaits more detail.
