Te­lented harpist Claire picked to per­form con­certs in Europe

BRAY HARPIST Claire O’Don­nell is to take her place along­side the very best young clas­si­cal mu­si­cians in Europe as harpist with the E.U.Y.O. ‘ The Euro­pean Union Youth Orches­tra.’

This is a tremen­dous achieve­ment for a young mu­si­cian from Wick­low as she has been se­lected from a pool of mu­si­cians from all 27 Euro­pean Union states. Only one other harpist from Ire­land has ever achieved this po­si­tion be­fore.

With an early pas­sion for harp, she be­gan to learn at the age of eight in The Royal Ir­ish Academy of mu­sic Dublin and later in the Con­ser­va­toire Na­tional.

De Mu­sic Reims, France. She was the youngest per­former at the Ninth World Harp Congress in Dublin in 2005 and was ap­pointed prin­ci­ple harpist with The Na­tional Youth Orches­tra in 2007.

Claire also plays and is a tu­tor of tra­di­tional Ir­ish harp with the Bray branch of Comhal­tas Ce­oltóirí Éire­ann. Claire’s busy sched­ule of con­certs over the next year starts with per­for­mances in Poland, Hun­gary Ser­bia, Croa­tia and Italy. All her stu­dents and Bray Comhal­tas wish her the best of luck.
