MARCH 18 HEALTH WEEK
All classes had the theme of health: physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual running through them in the school from March 7th to March 11th.Teachers in all subject areas worked with students on some aspect of health. Visiting speakers from organisations such as Mental Health Ireland, The Aisling Adolescent Addiction Treatment Centre Co Kilkenny and service users from a mental health support group in Newbridge shared experiences, information and advice with groups of students. Workshops promoting healthy relationships through clear communication and making healthy choices were offered to a group of senior students. Randomly selected groups were also guided through a selection of websites which promote and support positive mental health among young people. Members of the P.L.C. class also sold 1Life bracelets and distributed information about this sucide prevention helpline.
This was a very beneficial experience and thanks to all who made it such a successful event. A special word of thanks to Mrs o Hara who organised and coordinated the week of events
