FOUR of the Glencormac United teams were in action last weekend. The U8s were away to Greystones and won 4-0. This was a strong performance from all of the squad this week with everybody playing well but the stars were Glen Bradshaw in midfield along side Alex Flynn and man of the match, Cian Hind. Eoin Cleary kept a clean sheet in goals with strong support from Adam Gallagher, Tommy Merriman and Cian Duffy in defence. Cian Cahill played up front on his own and kept Greystones under pressure for the whole match and he got one of the goals along with Alex Flynn (1) and a brace from Cian Hinde. The 10’s had a great 5-0 win away to Avonmore in Rathdrum. This was a great team performance with Micheal Brady getting 4 goals and Ethan O’Mahony getting the other and they were best on the day along with Sean Redden and Scott Drew. The 11s suffered a heavy defeat to Ashford Rovers. Harry Waters capped a great performance with a goal and he was best along with reliable goalkeeper Stephen Mullery who came out of nets to go up front and almost scored. The youths were due to travel to Granada in Clonkeen but the opposition cancelled this fixture for the fourth time but the runner up spot is already secured. The seniors were at home to BBK United and suffered a 3-0 defeat. This was a tighter game than the scoreline suggests with glens unlucky not to score on a few occasions. Dean Kelly, Barry Fitzpatrick and Kevin Redden were the best players before the later went off with a serious knee injury. A reminder to all managers that the monthly meeting takes place this Thursday night at 9 pm and you can check out the latest club news on www.glencorma for match reports and up to date information on the clubs activities.
