Pub­lic talk


On March 31 Grey­stones Cancer Sup­port are host­ing a pub­lic talk on ‘Sur­viv­ing Cancer’ with Dr. Jenny Westrup, med­i­cal on­col­o­gist at the Bea­con Hos­pi­tal.

The talk will take place in the Shore­line Med­i­cal Cen­tre at 8pm on March 31.

Sur­vivor­ship is not just about com­plet­ing all cancer treat­ment and ar­riv­ing ex­hausted at some in­vis­i­ble fin­ish­ing line. Sur­vivor­ship is liv­ing with, through and be­yond cancer. As cancer de­tec­tion and treat­ments im­prove, there are a grow­ing num­ber of peo­ple who are liv­ing with a diagnosis of cancer.

Re­cently the fo­cus of cancer treat­ment has be­gun to ex­plore the post-treat­ment pe­riod and the need for a sur­vivor­ship care plan.

Sur­vivor­ship rec­og­nizes the need to ad­dress a wide range of is­sues in­clud­ing: med­i­cal, psy­choso­cial, spir­i­tual, fi­nan­cial, sex­ual and ge­netic.

All are wel­come to come along to this very im­por­tant evening. Tea and cof­fee will be served and there will be an op­por­tu­nity for per­sonal dis­cus­sion.
