ST. ANNE'S PARISH

Times of Masses: Mass is cel­e­brated in St. Anne's Church at 10am and 7.30pm Mon­day to Fri­day. Week­end Mass times are Satur­day 6.30pm Vigil Mass and on Sun­day at 8am, (9am in St. Pa­trick's Church in St. Colum­cille's Hos­pi­tal), 10.30am (Fam­ily Mass), 12 Noon, and 6pm. Con­fes­sions are heard on Satur­days af­ter the 10am Mass, be­tween 12.30pm and 1pm and af­ter the 6.30pm Mass.

Congratulations: Congratulations to the chil­dren from St. Anne's and Rathmichael schools who were con­firmed last Satur­day week by Arch­bishop Diar­muid Martin. The can­di­dates from Scoil Mhuire will be con­firmed this Satur­day at 11am.

CatholicA­pos­to­late: Next Mon­day night there will be a meet­ing of the Catholic Apos­to­late at 8pm in the St. Anne's Re­source Cen­tre.

St. Vin­cent de Paul So­ci­ety: The Shankill Con­fer­ence of the St. Vin­cent de Paul So­ci­ety ex­tend their thanks to all those who con­trib­uted to last week's monthly church door col­lec­tion.

Jus­tice & Peace Group: Its hoped to form a Jus­tice and Peace Group be­tween the parishes of St. Anne's, Rathmichael and St. James' Crinken. Any­one in­ter­ested is asked to con­tact the St. Anne's Parish Of­fice.

Some­thing for Lent: Come and join the Prayer Group on Wed­nes­day nights at 8pm in St. Anne's Re­source Cen­tre and learn to pray the pow­er­ful abun­dance Prayer and lis­ten to the Lord and his speaks through his word.

Bap­tisms: Bap­tisms take place in St. Anne's Church at 12.45pm on the 1st Sun­day of the Month and at 5pm on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Satur­days of the Month. A month's no­tice is re­quired. Please con­tact the St. Anne's Parish Of­fice lo­cated in St. Anne's Re­source Cen­tre to make your ar­range­ments.

Please note that when vis­it­ing the Parish Of­fice to ar­range a bap­tism, the child's birth cer­tifi­cate should be brought as it nec­es­sary to pho­to­copy it for the parish records but it will be re­turned im­me­di­ately.

St. Anne's Re­source Cen­tre Hours: St. Anne's Re­source Cen­tre is open 9am to 8.30pm Mon­day to Thurs­day and on Fri­day from 9am to 3pm. Those re­quir­ing Bap­tism / Con­fir­ma­tion cer­tifi­cates or ap­pli­ca­tion forms for Bap­tism can ob­tain them dur­ing the above hours. Please note that the Parish Of­fice is the only place where cer­tifi­cates and ap­pli­ca­tion forms can be pro­cessed.

Parish Pas­toral Coun­cil: The next meet­ing of the PPC will take place at 8pm on Mon­day April 4th. The PCC wel­comes and in­vites and sug­ges­tions and com­ments which can be for­warded to it via the Parish Of­fice in St. Anne's Re­source Cen­tre.

Hos­pi­tal Vis­its: Due to new Data Pro­tec­tion laws, the priests of St. Anne's Parish can no longer re­quest to see the pa­tients lists at St. Colum­cille's Hos­pi­tal. So you are go­ing into this hos­pi­tal or any other one and would like one of the priests to visit, please let one of the priests know di­rectly or leave a mes­sage in the Parish Of­fice.

Run Re­treat Week­end: Last year the Run Re­treat week­end was held in Shankill and those tak­ing part thought that it was 'deadly'. This year it is mov­ing south and will be held in New­town­moun­tkennedy Na­tional School, Co. Wick­low.

Run Re­treat week­ends are res­i­den­tial and are held for 12 to 15 years olds and in­clude Mass, games and ac­tiv­i­ties, talks, mu­sic and fun. The wek­end runs from March 25th to March 27th . Mass from St. Anne's: Mass is now broad­cast on-line and can be viewed by log­ging onto the parish web­site www.stannes­parishshankill.com and then click­ing onto video link. Vol­un­teers are needed to op­er­ate the cam­eras dur­ing Mass so that view­ers get a va­ri­ety of pic­tures. Lour­des Pil­grim­age: This year's parish pil­grim­age to Lour­des will de­part from Shankill on Au­gust 22nd for 6 nights. Full de­tails will be avail­able shortly.

This is re­viewed at ev­ery meet­ing of the Parish Pas­toral Coun­cil to en­sure that the parish in full com­pli­ance with the Dublin Dioce­san guide­lines.

Church Ser­vices: Ser­vices of Wor­ship for this Sun­day - The Third Sun­day of Lent - are 8.30am Holy Com­mu­nion, 11am Morn­ing Prayer fol­lowed af­ter­wards by cof­fee in the Erck Hall, and 7pm Holy Com­mu­nion - Lec­tor Paul Cath­cart.

Easter Vestry: The Easter Vestry will take place on Sun­day April 10th fol­low­ing the 11am Ser­vice.

HIS­TOR­I­CAL SO­CI­ETY

The April monthly meet­ing of the Rathmichael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety - the lo­cal his­tory so­ci­ety cov­er­ing Shankill & District - takes place on Wed­nes­day April 6th when vis­it­ing the Rathmichael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will be John Gil­lis, Se­nior Man­u­script Con­ser­va­tor, Trin­ity Col­lege Li­brary and Na­tional Li­brary, who will speak on ' The Fad­den More Psalter ' which will cover the dis­cov­ery and re­cov­ery of an Early Medieval Ir­ish man­u­script and some and some re­mark­able finds along the way.

This lec­ture takes place at 8pm in Rathmichael School, Stone­bridge Road, Shankill and will be the So­ci­ety's fi­nal in­door meet­ing un­til the Au­gust week long Sum­mer School se­ries of evening lec­tures, de­tails of which will be an­nounced one all the de­tails have been fi­nalised.

SHANKILL GUILD ICA

Meet­ings of the Shankill Guild ICA takes place at 8pm on the 2nd Mon­day of each month in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre, Lower Road, Shankill. The Guild's Ac­tiv­ity Night takes place at 8 p.m. on the 3rd Mon­day of each month in the Shankill Old Folk­sAs­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre. The Craft Morn­ing takes place each Wed­nes­day from 10.30am to 1pm in St. Anne's Re­source Cen­tre. New mem­bers wel­come - con­tact Ms. Betty Mur­ray at 2820069.

PANIC AT­TACK SUP­PORT

There is a con­fi­den­tial sup­port group in Shankill avail­able to any­one who suffers from anx­i­ety dis­or­der or panic at­tacks. If you or some some­one close to you is af­fected in this way, con­tact Kathy on 085-7386 736 to ob­tain fur­ther in­for­ma­tion /de­tails.

AC­TIVE RE­TIRE­MENT

The Shankill Ac­tive Re­tire­ment meets on the 3rd Mon­day of the month, and is al­ways in­ter­ested in new mem­bers who will find that it op­er­ates a wide range of ac­tiv­i­ties.

OLD FOLKS AS­SO­CI­A­TION

The Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion is al­ways glad to wel­come new mem­bers to ' The Club ' which is held in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Cen­tre on Lower Road ev­ery Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon from 2pm to 4pm which in­cludes tea and a raf­fle fol­lowed by Bingo - trans­port can be ar­ranged - call 2826364. Vol­un­tary helpers are al­ways wel­come too, ei­ther in the Day Cen­tre, on the Meals on Wheels ser­vice or help­ing with the monthly First Satur­day Book Sales.

BOOK SALE

The April First Satur­day Book Sale which sup­ports the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion and Meals and Wheels, takes place on Satur­day April 2nd be­tween 10am and 1pm in the Shankill Old Folks Cen­tre, Lower Road, and all are wel­come. There is al­ways an ex­cel­lent se­lec­tion of books avail­able at bar­gain prices so make a point of call­ing in, as you never know what you might find. Do­na­tions of books wel­come. A good op­por­tu­nity to ob­tain some great read­ing for Easter.
