DANCE DATES

The next dance in Round­wood Parish Hall/Cen­tre will be on 25th March mu­sic will be by Tony Davitt. On 15th April mu­sic will be by Golden Dream and on 20th May mu­sic by Gerry Galvin and the Wick­low man will play on 17th June and Rio on the 15th July. Dancing is from 9.30pm - 12 mid­night with tea and a raf­fle.

There will be a tea dance on Sun­day 5th June from 3pm - 6pm with mu­sic by Wil­liam Belton.

SPON­SORED WALK

Peo­ple are needed for a spon­sored walk in aid of the Glen of Imaal Moun­tain Res­cue Team will take place from the 27th - 28th May on Clare Is­land or Croagh Pa­trick. HIS­TOR­I­CAL SO­CI­ETY

On Mon­day 28th March at 8.30 p.m. in the Old School, Round­wood, the Round­wood Hs­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will present a talk by Mr. Ron Cox on how wa­ter from the Vartry Reser­voir gets dis­trib­uted through Dublin. This will be a most in­ter­est­ing and in­for­ma­tive evening and all are wel­come to at­tend. The So­ci­ety's 21st His­tor­i­cal Jour­nal is now on sale in lo­cal shops. Price €6.

COUN­TRY MAR­KET

Round­wood Mar­ket re-opened on Sun­day 20th March (1p.m. to 5p.m) in the new Parish Hall, Main Street, Round­wood. Home bak­ing, crafts, plants, etc. avail­able ev­ery week. New mem­bers wel­come. Call in and say hello! You will be more than wel­come.

WALK OF DREAMS

Round­wood AFC in con­juc­tion with the John Giles Foun­da­tion will be par­tak­ing in the “walk of dreams” on Sun­day 27th March at 3pm. The walk starts at Fitzwilliam Square through Ringsend to the Aviva Sta­dium. CON­CERT

The Unity Gospel Choir will hold a con­cert in Round­wood Parish Hall on Fri­day 1st April from 8pm - 10.30pm. Ad­mis­sion €10 with all money raised go­ing to The Wick­low Moun­tain Res­cue. Tick­ets are in Justines shop or can be bought on the door on the night.

BUS TOUR TO AUS­TRIA

A ten day tour of Aus­tria St An­ton and Lake Con­stance will take place from 29th June to 8th July. No fly­ing in­volved just coach and cruise. Places to visit are Rot­ter­dam, Ger­many, Vavaria Inns­bruck and Black For­est. We also will visit the largest wa­ter­fall in Europe, the Rhein Falls. ATH­LET­ICS

Well done to Jack Waters who won a sil­ver medal in the boys U12 60M and to Laura Ka­vanagh who won a bronze medal in the U18 girls triple jump at the All Ire­land In­door Cham­pi­onships on Satur­day 19th March in Ma­her­afelt. Also spe­cial men­tion to Cliona Byrne, Amy Mur­phy and Andrew Doyle who com­peted .

The 4th and last round of the in­ter club cross coun­try league will be held on the Mur­rough in Wick­low this Sun­day 27th March at 1pm. Check-in at the top car park from 12.30pm. Cost is €1 per ath­lete. Medals for 1st 6 in each race. Points from this round will be added to the ta­ble and the Over­all Tro­phy will be pre­sented on the day.

Com­mu­nity Games county cross coun­try is on Mon­day 28th March at 6pm in Avon­dale , Rath­drum.

CIR­CUIT TRAIN­ING

Cir­cuit train­ing and body con­di­tion­ing started Tues­day 22nd March from 7 - 8pm at the parish hall, Round­wood, €7.50 per class or sign up for 8 classes for €55, please bring a mat/wa­ter and plenty of en­ergy.

TUES­DAY BAD­MINTON

Did you play bad­minton as a young­ster and would like to give it a go again? Now's your chance - join us for an hour of fun bad­minton on Tues­day morn­ings from 9.30am in the sports com­plex. Spare rack­ets are avail­able, Age/fit­ness level no bar­rier, so no ex­cuses.

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

Back next month is John Flood on 8th April. Up­com­ing dates: Wick­low Man on 13th May and Richie Halpin on 10th June.

COM­MU­NITY GAMES

The Com­mu­nity Games Cross Coun­try Team Event competition for County Wick­low will be held on 28th March in Avon­dale , Rath­drum. Reg­is­tra­tion at 6pm, first event at 6.30pm.

Events will in­clude U13 Mixed Boys and Girls (Dis­tance 1200m). U12 Mixed Dis­tance Re­lays Boys and Girls (Dis­tances 400 and 600 me­tres). U14 Mixed Dis­tance Re­lays Boys and Girls (Dis­tances 600 and 800 me­tres). There will also be events for U8, U 10 and U16 at county level, but par­tic­i­pants in these events will not go for­ward to pro­vin­cial fi­nals.

Sun­day morn­ing run con­tin­u­ing at 10am at Green gates into the reser­voir on New­town Road con­tact Bren­dan Lawlor (087 2432798) or Anne Marah (087 2861781).

Mon­day 14th March saw Mol­lie Byrne and Rachel Judd take 1st place for North/South, Clare Sally and Jane Cronin were 2nd whilst Mary Pierce and Kay Plunki­ett were 3rd 1st for East/Wesr were Phil Power and Cather­ine McGilly­cuddy, 2nd Ger­tie Fee and Bri­die Nolan, 3rd Ger Leni­han and Miriam Coyle and 4th Teresa Leahy and Mar­ion Davies.
