Busy times for Wicklow Community Games
WICKLOW COMMUNITY Games 2011 is now into its busy time of the year with county finals already begun in Art, Quiz, Talent and the Cross Country taking place on March 28th in Avondale Park in Rathdrum.
The areas in Wicklow have been all working hard over the winter months preparing for the coming season.
The winners of the above events go forward to represent Wicklow in the National Finals of Community Games on the weekend of May 27th to May 29th where children take great pride in doing so.
The results for some of the above events follow:
Art: The following children who came first in their category will go forward to represent Wicklow. The competition took place in Bless- ington on March 13th.
U-8 Girls: 1st, Kate O’Neill, Aughrim/Annacurra; U-8 Boys: 1st. Niall O’Connor, Enniskerry; U-10 Girls: 1st. Cara Ryan, BBK/Redcross; U-10 Boys: 1st. Robert Russell, BBK/Redcross; U-12 Girls: 1st. Caitlin Innes, Lakeside; U-12 Boys: 1st. Eamon O’Connor, Lakeside; U-14 Girls: 1st. Lauren Richardson, Lakeside; U-14 Boys: 1st. Amby Miley; U-16 Girls: 1st. Jade Walsh, Lakeside.
Model Making: U-10 Girls: 1st. Margurite O’Donovan, BBK/Redross; U-10 Boys: 1st. Jonathan Ryan, BBK/Redcross; U-12 Girls: 1st. Emer Kelly, Dunlavin; U-12 Boys: 1st. Mark Reid, Dunlavin; U-14 Girls: 1st. Lucy Byrne, BBK/Redcross; U-14 Boys: 1st. Stephen Ryan, BBK/Redcross.
Congratulations to all of the above and good luck in Athlone.
U-14 Quiz: The U-14 quiz took place on Friday, March 18, in Dunlavin and the following teams did very well. Lakeside, Dunlavin, Donard and Baltinglass took the overall prize and will represent Wicklow in Athlone.
The results for the Talent and Cross Country will follow as they take place.
