East Coast ease relegation fears

Bray People - - SOCCER ROUND-UP -

EAST COAST Albion were the big winners in Division 2 at the weekend as the Bray side moved four points clear of the drop zone following a 0-1 win over Ballywaltrim FC.

Shortly after the hour mark at the Ballywaltrim Recreation Park on Sunday Brian Boland drifted in from the left to slot home the only goal of the game.

Albion climbed above Ballywaltrim as a result of that victory and greatly eased their relegation worries with just four fixtures remaining.

Defeat meanwhile has left Ballywaltrim glancing nervously over their shoulders. They are now just a mere point above ninth placed Carnew AFC, who also tasted defeat at the weekend.

They hosted Seaview Wanderers and went down to a 55th minute David Kavanagh strike; the substi- tute finishing well after being found by Alan Hudson.

In the promotion race, Rathnew AFC increased the pressure on those around them as they picked up a 3-1 win over Roundwood FC at Shamrock Park.

Man of the match Mick Nolan, Jay Devlin and David Shortall all netted for the hosts as they moved to within a point of the promotion places.
