Rathnew complete double over Liffey Valley Rangers

Bray People - - SOCCER ROUND-UP -

IF LIFFEY Valley Rangers never see Rathnew AFC again, it'll be far too soon for the Dubliners.

Unbeaten in the U-17 League up until two weeks ago, Rangers have now suffered two consecutive losses and it is the Shamrock Park side that has inflicted both of those defeats on the league leaders.

On March 12, the pair clashed at Shamrock Park and goals from Shane Doyle and Eric Dunne brought Rangers' unbeaten record crashing to a halt.

The duo got reacquainted on Sunday in Dublin and Doyle once again tormented the leaders as he landed a single. He was joined on the scoresheet by Philip Murphy and Conor Cox as Rathnew recorded a brilliant 0-3 victory to march to within a single point of Rangers at the top of the table.

Greystones United also did the Garden County proud this week as they romped to a 9-1 win over Railway Union A at the Woodlands.

Sam Thompson, Dean Redmond and Seán O'Mahony all bagged doubles at the seaside venue, while Darragh Browne, Josh Davenport and Gary Elliot chipped in with singles as 'Stones climbed to third place.

Another side flexing their attacking muscle this week was Enniskerry YC. The Berryfield Lane outfit travelled to Finn Park for an encounter with St. Anthony's and returned home with all three points courtesy of a 1-7 thumping of the Saints.

Arklow United, who drew 1-1 with St. Fergal’s.
