Doyle leads the way for Rathnew
Rathnew 2-09 Lacken 0-7
EVERGREEN TREVOR Doyle was the driving force behind Rathnew's eight point win over Lacken in division 3 of the football leagues on Saturday.
Lacken found that they were just not able to curb the dominance of Doyle at full-forward, particularly in the opening half, and he finished the game with 1-6 to his credit.
Rathnew were very much in control throughout the opening 30 minutes and built up a commanding 2-6 to 0-2 at the break.
Paul Phibbs had a big game for Lacken, scoring 0-3, while Ken Balfe and Broe shared the remaining four points.
But none could match the shooting exploits of Trevor Doyle with his 1-6 for Rathnew.
Stephen Newsome chipped in with 1-1, Dillon Franey and Christopher Gregory landed a point each.
In addition to Trevor Doyle, Christopher Gregory and Edward Doyle were others to let their experience count for Rathnew, while young bloods to catch the eye were Patrick O’Connor, Jamie Snell and Ross O’Brien.
