RESIDENTS OPPOSE TESCO PLANS

Bray People - - FRONT PAGE -

PLANS TO develop Tesco on the Vevay Road in Bray have been opposed by residents of Charnwood, Ardbrae Park, San Souci Wood, Loreto Grange and Seacrest.

While the development is described in the plans as a ‘refurbished development,’ residents say that it is substantially larger and double the height of the existing store.

Plans three years ago to demolish the supermarket and build a store twice its size were refused by Bray Town Council following objections by resi- dents. The application was refused on the grounds that the initial planning was given for a neigh- bourhood shopping centre, that the size would be overbearing and obtrusive and that there were no details in the application regarding flood impact.

Residents believe the new proposed development would be visually obstructive and overbearing.

Two meetings have taken place in St. Cronan’s school over two Monday nights, with little support for the development. Tesco were invited to attend but did not reply.
